This post throws a whole color guard of flags for me starting with the comment:
I have become increasingly interested in examining Joss Whedon’s work from a feminist perspective since I had a conversation with another lesbian feminist sister at the International Feminist Summit about whether Joss was a feminist.
It goes about where you’d expect it to from there.
I don’t wont to comment too much further than to say there’s a whole mountain of bullshit here…

Amazon’s recommendation algorithms can sometimes lead to rater humorous results.
I got this email today:

Now as far as I know Brian Michael Bendis has never collaborated with historical consultants and I’m pretty sure the artist for his run on Ultimate X-Men is not an expert on the oil industry…

I was home sick this last week so to kill some time I rented Mass Effect. From the get-go, fantastic game! Lots of options to customize your character, good controls that ween you into them, fun story, blah blah blah… Then I got about 45 minutes into it and hit the first timed portion of the game… I FUCKING HATE THIS THING!!!
The map window is terrible, you can’t figure out where you need to go or where you’re at, there are too many enemies between each check point, my team are idiots, etc. If I can’t get past a point of the game after 20 tries than the game has failed me. I know this is my problem but damn, this is stupid. Usually if I let it sit for a day and jump back in I’m fine. Not so much with this. Tried again tonight, died another 6 attempts, each time a little sooner. I’m probably not even gonna rent this again, let alone try and find it used later (which I often do with games I rent). I want to love this game so much but I’m so freaking pissed I can’t even type that well.
Maybe I’m just old. Maybe I should just stick with rhythm games, platformers and turn based RPGs. I just get too frustrated and angry.

Finally just finished watching/re-watching the first season of Smallville. A few observations:
- There’s a whole lot more killing and violence in this than I remember.
- Lana sucks.
- Whitney is sooooooo lame.
- Pete is far under-utilized.
- Monster-of-the-week really doesn’t work for this show, it ends up feeling X-Files lite and doesn’t have the metaphor punch that Buffy gets from it.
- It’s fun seeing people I know better now from other sources here in guest parts. Just a few I’ve seen - Iceman, Warren’s robot girlfriend and Deck Chief Tyrol.
- With the possible exceptions of Willow and Veronica, Chloe is the cutest… EVER!
- Band playing the shitty theme song at the prom = BAD idea.
- Did I mention that Lana sucks??
Meta observation:
- Apparently after 4 days of being sick and 3 of no other human contact, even the most schmaltzy heart-tugging moment makes be well up like a fountain…

This issue helps to explain SOME of the stupid from the last 2 issues but it does nothing to alleviate any of the suck. This is some seriously bad comics…
Oh, and one minor gripe among many many more important ones: has Wolverene being known as “James” been mentioned ANYWHERE in the Ultimate universe ever?? And even if it has how the hell would Cap know to call him that?

So I got cursed out for the first time by an (apparently) 14 year-old douche on WoW tonight.
His problem?? I wouldn’t duel him… even after he offered me 5 gold… THE HORRORS!!!
Did I make the right decision to jump back on this stupid game???

My drive-through take out from Taco Bell today came with an after-dinner mint and a wet nap.
This seems strange to me…

Got a new Threadless shirt today (and it’s a damn good thing I ordered the day it came out as it’s already started to sell out). These guys really know what they’re doing. Here’s the package it came in:
If you can’t see it too well at the top it says “You’re awesome… and this package is proof!”
Also, their new Threadless brand tshirts are really nice. They feel a little higher quality than American Apparel but not quite the super-duper softness of Alternative Apparel. I highly recommend!
